Customising

The pages for changing how a site looks, what it says and what it allows, without changing the code.

  1. Its name and look. The name and description: Site identity here, and in the web app, Name and description. Logo, colours, fonts and the home page visitors see: Themes.
  2. Its languages. Languages in the web app. What a post's language is used for: The language of a post.
  3. Its legal texts. Your Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and asking everybody to accept a new version: Terms of Service and Privacy Policy in the web app, and the server's side.
  4. Who may do what, by default. Who may post, reply, like and add followers on each kind of profile: The defaults, and what profile owners can change.
  5. Who may join, and what visitors see. Registration modes, and the privacy settings of the whole installation.
  6. How search ranks. The weights, and how fast the past fades: Tuning it.
  7. The reasons for a report. Your own list in place of the built-in one: Using your own reasons.
  8. How long things are kept. Unused accounts, deleted ones, and the archives people download: Account cleanup, Account lifecycle, Download your data.
  9. Its rules and promises. The rules everybody agrees to, the promises on its About page, and the rules a new group starts from: Rules and promises.

Not written yet: starting configurations for kinds of site (a school, a newsroom, a library), planned in recipes.md (opens in a new tab).
